Hypertension does not disqualify a driver from getting their CDL, however, non compliance and elevated readings can result in suspension or revocation of the drivers CDL privileges.  Hypertension requires annual certification if within parameters. The following are guidelines for blood pressure according to the FMCSA.

Threshold Blood Pressure: 140/90 with or without medication

Stage 1 Hypertension: Systolic 140-159 Diastolic 90-99

Stage 2 Hypertension: Systolic 160-179 Diastolic 100-109

Certified for no more than 3 months

Stage 3 Hypertension: >180/100   DISQUALIFIED
